Born 1854 in Staffordshire, the eldest of eleven children.
- Apprentice to the artist W.S. Colman at Minton’s 1869 – 1875
- Attended South Kensington School of Art, London having won a scholarship c.1877 – c.1881
- Based in London, he worked in several fields, including painting, writing, designing and teaching c.1881 – 1920
- His roles included being head of the Putney Borough Polytechnic and the Norwood Schools of Art, as well completing freelance work as a painter for Doulton’s in Lambeth and Wedgwood.
George died in 1920
